In addition to their quest to try to capture the national championship, there is something else that almost every team in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament has in common – HexPad.
McDavid developed the HexPad technology and is the industry leader in protective apparel. This technology launched a whole new category of apparel almost five years ago and is now known as protective apparel. Much to the success of the product and service that McDavid delivers, HexPad is being worn by 58 of the 64 basketball teams participating in this year’s tournament.
HexPad is made for any athlete participating in sports that feature body-to-ground or body-to-body contact. Hex Pad features lightweight, individually positioned, hex shaped foam pads that are bonded directly to the fabric that conform to the body for unsurpassed performance, mobility and breathability.
While it has been adopted by most NCAA basketball teams, as well as professional basketball players, athletes in sports outside of basketball are also now discovering the benefits of HexPad including those in sports like lacrosse, baseball, soccer and volleyball.
“HexPad offers a layer of protection that is lighter and more flexible than any other piece of protective equipment a player can put on.” said Rey Corpuz, director of marketing at McDavid. “In most cases we’ve seen that athletes who start with a single piece of HexPad, like a shooters arm sleeve, quickly become believers and also wear our compression shorts and shirts.” said Corpuz.
